Busy Day @ the Auditorium

Today was a day long presentation extravaganza.
To be totally honest, it was a long day spent mostly in the sparkling glass faceted waiting area known as the pit in FS3. For some the day started at 9am with a seminar held in the auditorium. For the rest of my class it was mandatory to sit in during a game design final presentation by three teams at 1pm in the same location.

The three teams did a great job, with two of them being much more successful in their attempt to create a fully realized final product. It was a nice glimpse into my future for my last semester, since I will be leading an undergrad team to produce a final project video game as well.

Afterwards I headed over to meet some of the meat-loving crew at Sonny's all you can eat BBQ. Wow, good stuff!!! Then it was right back to the lecture hall to wait in line for the Lucas Film presentation. They had some decent shwag to hand out, but I didn't win any. That SW Lego game was mine! Anyway, they mostly spoke about internships and how to get into their companies. No easy task there, they only want rockstars; or creative minded nerds. At the end of it all they welcomed a representative from a non-profit group in Singapore.

Apparently Singapore wants us tech minded workers to move over there and help them feed the growing Chinese market for electronic based entertainment media. IS/IT heads welcomed. It seems like a great opportunity and they are even willing to subsidize some of your travel.

Work in Singapore

Finally, we capped off the evening by crowding into an Explorer (thank u mista Sykes) and rolling 6 deep into the heart of Orlando. We met up at Wai Tiki with the Orlando IGDA chapter and met a lot of really nice people. Can't wait to do that next month. We may have stayed too long though. Even though we obtained a clutch parking spot right in front of the club area, we failed to notice the 3HR limit on the street signs. Guess what, even after midnight they check the streets. So we got a ticket! Ouch! Lesson learned...

Listening to Blizzard

This is one of the first events I'll have a chance to attend at the lecture hall. Should be interesting and hopefully there will be some meaningful information. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a canned advert for how cool Blizzard is.

I should probably write this down somewhere.

Date: Tuesday, September 29
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: FS3B Auditorium

Guest Speakers:
Sumer Ortiz, University Relations Manager
