If you were watching the election count down on CNN you may have seen their virtual Capitol building in 3d. It was most likely done with tracking markers set about the stage and many cameras working together.

Here is a cheap alternative using a similar idea. Tracking an image and over-laying an animation on it. It uses Flash and a web camera in a low cost approach to virtual reality. I had seen this used in Japanese toys, it looks like soon we may be able to make our own.
